New Addtion

Close to our home, Levin Furniture store set up a temporary clearance center. They have brought all the clearance furniture from all there stores in Pennsylvania. This store is HUGE and there are many deals on furniture, decorative accessories and mattress. The store is only open on the weekend, so the past two weeks in a row we have been taking a look for a new coffee table. So far we haven't found a coffee table but we did find a new chair.

The chair was originally $450 and we got it for $108. I plan to put the chair in our master bedroom, but at the moment baby girl's crib is in there so I see it floating around the house for a while.

We plan to keep going back to the clearance center every weekend to see if any new ideas come in (we are told there will be lots of new items coming in every week). If you live in the Pittsburgh area and would like to know where the Levin's Clearance center is email me at

Mamma Needs Advice

Calling all mom's - I need advice ASAP. My sweet baby girl is having sleeping problems. For the past 4-5 weeks she has been a very restless sleeper. She tosses and turns until she wakes herself up. She will not put herself back to sleep, but will go back to sleep when I pick her up.

She went from sleeping all night to now up every 1-2 hours.  She doesn't seem effected by this change.  But I am going into zombie mode. She naps twice a day anywhere between 1-3 hrs. Her bedtime is between 7:30pm and 8:00 pm (sometimes she pushes that back, but not too often). She is a good eater (baby food and formula) and normally goes to sleep with out any problems. Once I get her down to sleep at night she will sleep for 3 or 4 hours than start getting up every 1-2 hours.

Also she doesn't have any teeth yet. I see her two bottom teeth under the gums, so I'm sure they will be here soon. Is teething to blame? What can I do to get her sleeping restfully? Please tell me this will pass!

FYI she is 8 months old today. Swaddling will not work, she never liked it.

Plan B - Ikea

Last week I blog about my dilemma trying to create a Gallery Wall. I see so many nice gallery walls but can not seem to put one together myself. So I came up with Plan B. Plan B consisted of buying Ribba Picture Ledge shelves from Ikea.

Image from IKEA. On a side note I love the wall color in this picture. Something in my house needs to be this color!

I like the idea of rotating pictures and adding a small vase or decorative item when the mood strikes.  Plus less nail holes. We purchased 4 shelves. One was 45 inches, and the other 3 were 21 inches. Last night we installed two of them. Just debating if I want to install the other two on the same wall or elsewhere in the house.

Regardless, I see us purchasing a few more for other areas of the house. I love that the pictures are coming off the floor and being put on the wall. I almost had a small melt down on Saturday when friends were on there way over because we have almost lived here a year and still haven't too much done. But when my friends came they commented on how nice the house was coming along. I guess I'm my own worst critic.

Hope you are out and enjoying the nice weather.

Gallery Wall

Since we moved in our new house I have wanted to create a Gallery Wall. I have tired over and over again and the only thing I accomplished was putting holes in several walls. Why is this SO HARD? Am I the only person on blog land or earth that can not figure this out?

Everyone else makes it look so easy.

I bought similar frames (thank you Ikea for cheap prices). I tried to copy layouts. Taped up newspaper for placement and still no luck, just lots of holes. So please excuse me while I go fill the holes and touch up paint and come up with plan B.

Any suggestions? Have you had luck with your gallery wall? If so I would love to see it.

New Curtains

I order a shower curtain from West Elm for one of our bathrooms.

Image from West Elm

I didn't love the shower curtain in our bathroom, it clashed with the dark blue walls. We really loved the pattern and colors so I decided to use them as curtains for our dinning and family room. The fabric is soft and durable and made the perfect addition. It should hold up against sticky baby hands.

Sorry for the dark pictures. We are not having a sunny day. The curtains color are true to the West Elm picture above.  They are bright and welcoming. Plus the neighbors are probably happy we hung up real curtains. Loving the new curtains, now I just need to order blinds. I just hope no one who visits has the same shower curtain!

What home improvement projects have you been up too?

Fireplace Reveal

We finally finished working on our fireplace makeover and I couldn't be more happy with the out come. I just want to invite people over to stare at the fireplace.

I feel in LOVE with this inspiration fireplace from Tiek Built Homes.

When I found this picture on Pinterest, I told my husband we have to do THIS! So off to Lowe's for supplies. But of course as all projects here we are on a budget. We decided to use our existing fireplace and spruce it up with some paint. We also decide for now, to forgo tile. Some gray paint from the garage give us the same color contrast in the inspiration photo.

Here are the before pics -

For $50 we were able to transform our boring fireplace to a statement piece.

The mirror is a $6.00 thrift store find that I painted.

The pictures do not do it justice. The whole room is brighter and a little more inviting.

Happy Monday!

New Fireplace

Our fireplace in our living room is kind of boring. Our living room lack architectural detail (like most of our house).  We do have some wooden ceiling beams you can see in the picture below. We love them but they do nothing to highlight our dated fireplace.

This picture was taken the day we moved in.

So what is a girl to do? She visits Pinterest to find inspiration.

I love all these fireplaces! They are real statement pieces in the room. We have been working on a fireplace makeover here at Beautiful Haven. I promise pictures next week. I'm happy with the way it's coming together!

Have a wonderful weekend!
